Dr. John Wyrick is a healer, lecturer and spiritual teacher who for more than three decades has practiced holistic healing arts along with ancient spiritual practice.

While doing a four-month personal meditation retreat in 1972 he felt called to become a chiropractor and to take up the path of Sufism. For the next few years he practiced as a licensed massage therapist as he attended Cleveland Chiropractic College in Kansas City and earned his degree as a Doctor of Chiropractic in 1977. During this same era, he also studied and taught Tai Chi Chuan with Master Yin Lung Chao.

In 1975 Dr. Wyrick began to teach Sufi meditation and spiritual transformation classes. The outgrowth of his classes in Sufi Zikr, meditation and the Dances of Universal Peace was key in the founding of the Shining Heart Sufi Community in 1981, which is based in Kansas City, Missouri and continues to thrive to this day.

In 1979 Dr. Wyrick took a working sabbatical from Sufi teaching and moved to Tortola in the British Virgin Islands where he became one of the first health care professionals to offer chiropractic and acupuncture services to the native islanders.

When Dr. Wyrick returned to the U.S. in 1981 he moved to Skiatook, Oklahoma and practiced chiropractic and continued to teach Sufism. While in Oklahoma he took up the study and practice of Native American ceremonies, sweat lodge and peyote ritual. During this time he became an official member of the Native American Church where he learned to lead sweat lodge ceremonies from tribal elders. In 1986 he returned to Kansas City and continued to teach, lead and facilitate many Sufi camps, seminars and events. In 1984 he was given the title ”Sheikh” of the Western branch of the Chisti Sufi Order known as the Sufi Ruhaniat International in which he remains a respected senior teacher today.  Known as “Sheikh Firdousi” in Sufi circles he has taken formal students of Sufism since 1976.

In 1984 Dr. Wyrick’s inborn ability to see the human aura (which he first discovered as a child) brought about a number of rational and intuitive summations regarding the colors and qualities of a person’s aura. By using kinesthesiology and direct aura analysis he became able to accurately name what a person’s karma patterns were. These karma patterns (called samskaras in the original Sanskrit) seemed to be directly associated with the colors, hues, placement and intensities of the human aura. Dr. Wyrick observed and concluded from these observations his primary understanding: “We are what we vibrate.” Thus, if a people could change what they were vibrating from within their auras, they could change how they emanate their lives into existence.

In 1986 this central principle led to the development and founding of his life’s work which he now calls Nirodha Karma Healing. This radical spiritual healing method is used to help people transform their lives by assisting them to effect a change in the vibration of the most profound layer of the aura called the “Light Body.”  This “Light Body” is referred to in all esoteric traditions. In Sufism it is known as the jism-asli-hakiki (the most celestial body) and is sometimes referred to as the astral body.

Though there are many techniques that are used to try to help people change their thoughts and emotions, people are only rarely able to change the Light Body even after much meditation and spiritual practice. The Light Body is the carrier of the information from other lives into this life. When people are born they start to vibrate their karma into existence by what they emanate. Yogis have known an ancient way to stop the vibration of these samskaras but it is available only though extraordinary effort and asceticism and rarely achieved even after many decades of effort. They call this special state of meditation nirodha meaning “cessation.” This state of meditation brings about the end of karma and all suffering, and an awakening of a soul into mukti, meaning liberation or enlightenment.

Dr. Wyrick’s central discovery was a way to identify and name the specific karma patterns (such as orphan karma, slave karma or maimed karma.)

Then, by working with the client to facilitate a sort of “micro-nirodha,” a person’s Light Body could be awakened from emanating a particular karma pattern into existence. What he observed was that by stilling and concentrating radiant intentionality directly on these emanations, the particular samskara ceased its vibration or fell silent in nirodha causing the end of the influence of that karma in the person’s life. As this new work was so successful in helping people change, it became very popular and led Dr. Wyrick to give up his chiropractic practice in 1987 and to travel and do karma healing full time. Since then Dr. Wyrick’s unique Nirodha Karma Healing system has helped thousands of people of great diversity and predicament to understand their suffering and transform their lives.

Dr. Wyrick has gained the respect of indigenous people as well as respected institutions such as the Harvard Divinity School where in 2003 he gave a lecture on his work as part of the Religion, Health and Healing Initiative sponsored by the Harvard Center for the Study of World Religions. He has also participated in two scientific studies by the University of San Francisco that started in 2002 inquiring into the effectiveness of distance healing using prayer and meditation.

Dr. Wyrick has worked with more than 20,000 people in the course of his life. In 30 years he has led over three hundred workshops and training on all aspects of Sufi practice, meditation and spiritual healing as well as leading Native American sweat lodge ceremonies. He has traveled internationally studying Sufism in India and Morocco and teaching Sufism and healing in Hawaii and Holland. His Sufi Zikr songs are even rumored to be playing on Afghan radio. He has many formal students of Sufism, some who have been with him many years and a few who have reached realization and become well known Sufi teachers themselves.

Dr. Wyrick has recently moved to Paris, France    Having traveled, worked and lectured extensively, he is now concentrating primarily on practicing online and has now developed a formal training program or what he calls The Karma School where he is training people in his work.

Dr. Wyrick seeks to continue his journey, service and research into healing knowledge and all knowledge that is capable of freeing people from suffering which also brings self-realization, liberation and lasting peace.
